01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Neboke, a meal can go beyond yakitori and a drink, with chicken sashimi and rice dishes to finish. Alongside grilled skewers, the menu includes chicken sashimi, blanched chicken, soup and rice dishes. Diners who have visited mention grilled liver, liver sashimi, chicken heart skewers and avocado sashimi. There is also an assorted sashimi platter, including chicken tenderloin and chicken gizzard sashimi. Choose grilled skewers or sashimi to enjoy different flavours of chicken.

Along with familiar skewers such as chicken thigh, skin and tsukune (chicken meatballs), there are options with different seasonings, including chicken neck with spring onion and miso, tenderloin wrapped with plum and shiso, and chicken skin or cartilage with curry spice. One diner remarked on how rich the duck was, so it may be worth adding a non-chicken skewer to your order. If you choose beer, one visitor noted that it was served in a frosted mug and stayed cold to the last sip. Another recommended the fresh-grape chuhai, a shochu-based drink mixed with soda, making it easy to find a drink to pair with your skewers.

To finish, choose from chicken ochazuke (rice with tea or broth poured over it), chicken and plum ochazuke, or chicken rice porridge. If you would rather keep enjoying the skewers, there are grilled rice balls and plain rice. The soup selection includes chicken soup, egg soup and tsukune soup, described on the menu as containing homemade chicken meatballs. One visitor wrote that the restaurant was already filling up early when they visited as a party of two, and recommended making a reservation. Reservations are accepted, so you can check on a table in advance for dinner. Payment is cash only.
